Guitar Hero

Last night our sort of Family Home Evening was playing Guitar and some wrote on the driveway in chalk. I love it!! I haven't played that much and I really haven't played since around Christmas (except for the 2 songs I played on Ryan's on the 4th of July in black and white....yeah his xbox and my parents' tv didn't communicate very well...so it wasn't quite as good)Mike has had the playstation hooked up in the trailer for quite awhile so he could play when we go camping if he gets bored. Anyway the kids had been playing it all day and were singing some of the songs so after dinner I decided that I wanted to play again. (I am pretty dang good!!! At least of the people I'm around) It was fun. So here are some pics.

This is the lovely drawing Amy and Brooke drew (Brooke's is on the left side.... her addition to the castle)

Fun Times!!!

So we have had Sena, Amy, and Nolan down here with us for a little over a week. And this weekend we did some fun things, making them wonder when we get to do again. Friday night we rented the city pool from 9 -10 (they are really busy this time of year... that was the only time we could get before they leave) and we invited Mike's parents, brothers and nephews with. Everyone had a blast. After we got to the pool I realized I forgot the camera. And there would have been some good pictures. Oh well! So Brooke for some reason hates the pool. She loves to be in the water and play but Parowan's pool is scary I guess to her. So she clings to people, and we try and teach her how to swim and this time we had a life jacket for her. But she hated the life jacket and didn't like the fact that she was in a floatie by herself. She still had fun! Mike's nephew Tyler on the other hand had a blast in his floaty (he is just a few months younger than Brooke) He was kicking for all he was worth and floaten around everywhere and tell everyone that he was floatin!! He was so cute!!! Nate, Mike's other nephew, is like a fish that can't swim. He loves the water and he clings to people too but he moves SO much. He about drowned Mike with him once. Anyway everyone had fun diving and swimming.

We also took a drive up Summit Mtn. Mike's friends' family owns property up there and that's where we usually bow hunt at. So we took the kids up to look for deer and arrowheads. We stopped, parked and set up the camp chef a little ways into their property before heading off to hike up the mtn side in search of arrowheads. None of us found a finished one, however, we did find chips from them, broken ones, and starts of arrowheads. Mike also found scrapers, which I never really thought about looking for (He loves looking for things like this). On our hike Mike and I seen 2 bucks and a couple of doe's. On the walk back to the "cook site" Mike seen another buck (he was a ways ahead of us... to get back to work on getting a spark or flame since we forgot a lighter or matches... I was trying to keep the kids together and keep moving they were so excited about finding all these cool rocks everywhere) While dinner was cooking there was a buck than walked parallel to us about 30 yards away. I had to get a picture of it, no it wasn't the greatest. Anyway on the way down the mtn side we seen a lot more deer and I finally seen elk up there. We've heard them but never seen them. But 2 spike bull elk ran across the road and up the hillside in front of us. I was sitting in the middle of the dang truck so I didn't get a picture of them. But it was still exciting to finally see the elk up there. We also saw a 4 pt, but it was so dark and too much moving that I didn't get a good picture of it, it turned out blurry.

We also went and seen Wall-E. That was funny! Mike laughed through the whole thing. And Sena got a bigger kick out of Mike's laugh than she did the movie!!! He is a crack up to hear him laugh like that. Brooke decided at the end that she needed to go potty so we both missed the ending. She takes quite a time between deciding she's done and washing her hands, so everyone was out waiting for us in the lobby when we came out. But overall it was good and so was the weekend! Like I said they're all asking when we get to go swimming and look for arrowheads again! Hope everyone had a good weekend!!!

4th of July

So the holiday weekend was fun!! Drama filled as usual but fun. I got off work early to wash my much needed car and get ready to head to Aurora. Mike was off work around 5 and helped me finish. We reached my parents around 8:30 that night (maybe a little later). Anyway Shi and Ryan beat us by about 15 minutes so once we got there after loves on Brooke they wanted us to go to Richfield with them to grab some Mtn Dew (and knowing Michael Pepsi). So we left Brooke with Papa and Nana and the rest of the mongloids to watch Aurora'a fireworks. Apparently this year Brooke did really good with them (last year she cuddled with people the whole time because of the loud bangs). She fell asleep on me as we all sat outside in the "cool" air and talked.

Friday morning as most people who are from or who have been to Aurora on the 4th starts off with a great wakeup call by the Fire Dept. I actually loved it. Got me out of bed and excited for the day!! See the Fire Dept sets of (or used to rather they do things a little different now) dynamite around 6 AM. They used to do it in vacant fields (there were quite a few by my house growing up) but with more people moving in and taking those vacant fields it moved to the street corners. Anyway my whole family can sleep through it. I have no idea how but they do. Well this year I woke up and being too tired fell back asleep as the bangs became more faint. But I still woke up at 7. So they day started out slow everybody taking their time. But about Noon we made it down to the Park to enjoy the festivities and have lunch. Well I swear the 4th always seems to be humid up there. Have no idea if its just me but its always hot and humid. And Brooke being like me where the heat really gets to her, at first didn't want to do much but after we got her on the train she was ready to have more fun! She painted her face and went fishing for ducks and fishing where she got a funny face and a bunch of people put them on so i had to get pics of them. Brooke had fun watch the kids run after the chickens to try and catch them. But after that she was getting so flushed we decided to take her back to my parents house and get out of the heat. The parade she does so good. Every other kid will run out into the street but she stays on the curb or next to it and waits. Amy would gather up candy and put it in Brooke's bag for her. But she loves to watch so many different things go by, especially the horses or tractors. So after the parade my parents took Brooke with them and Sena, Shi, Ryan, Mike, and I headed to the rodeo. It wasn't bad but pathetic. Not too many people actually rode, and by that I mean stay on for the full 8 seconds. And this year the rodeo seemed to go on forever!! But the fireworks were awesome and well worth it! (And if any of you have seen Parowan's fireworks, you understand) When we got home from that my family was still finishing up with their fireworks so we watched them finish. And that's when most of the drama happened but I won't bore with details.

So Saturday my dad remembered that my Grandpa was having a water turn that afternoon. And those being from Salina probably know what that is. Anyway the kids have so much fun and have for years. When its my grandpa's turn they invite the grandkids/great grandkids to come over and play in the water while it floods their yard, garden, and pasture. Well since we were up Brooke was able to join in on that fun. She was a little scared of the ditch though. I even got in and waded around! During that time my aunt and uncle and most of their kids came down from camping on the mtn. And their kids and grandkids got in and had some fun too before they headed home to Riverton. I hadn't done that since I was little, not that I really went all in (I didn't bring that many change of clothes with me). Later that evening my mom had made plans for a BBQ with her close friend and our family. After the BBQ I took Brooke to visit a some good friends (one of whom is like a second dad to me). They hadn't met Brooke yet and I have been negligent in stopping by to see them. We wer there for quite awhile but it was nice to talk to them again!!!

So overall it was a pretty good weekend. And everyone was safe. I hope everyone had a safe a great holiday!! (I'll hopefully post pictures a little later)

A Little Update!

To just give a little update on us. Right now we have Sena and Sky with us. They been here just under 2 weeks and Sky at least will be going home this weekend. They have been a big help keeping Brooke entertained. Sena especially has been a big help to us for the second time this summer. And I thank them for that!!! We've gone fishing a few times hmmm.... I could post pictures of that. And Sky went with Mike's dad in the dump truck to haul dirt which he really liked. It's been fun probably more for me than them. And tomorrow evening we'll be heading up to Aurora to enjoy the 4th of July!!! and take Sky home. But I'm kinda excited. I like the 4th even though the Aurora activities don't seem to be what they used to. But it's getting funner for Brooke every year. And I like going home every once in awhile. And with the economy now that isn't too much. I hope everyone has a great and safe holiday weekend!!!!
