I forgot to mention in my other post that my brother came from Nashville to spend the holiday.. He just left today. It was so good to see him again!! I know Brooke enjoyed spending time with the uncle she barely knows.

Hope
Ok so yesterday I went to church at my home ward. And in the Relief Societ Lesson she was talking about Hope (mostly). And I was thinking then and this morning as i listened to a few songs (the alarm). And I had some good inspiration. There are things in my life that I wish were different. Better. And I know that I can only do so much about them. And that our freedom of choice plays a big role in each of our lives. But I really become frustrated at times. And to my knowledge there is not a thing I can do. Which makes the frustration worse.
Well listening to the lesson. I was reminded again to have HOPE! With hope and faith to act on the hope or little things that come about through hope and faith and enduring everything will work out. Never give up hope! And keep the faith to continue on strong! Everything will work out. And also something my cousin said to me about her own life made me think about it in relation to mine. (which I'm sorry nothing seems to be working out for you yet.. But thank you, Kara, for those words. You helped me realize something I didn't really fit into my life quite that way) She said and I know I won't get it word for word but it was basically something like "Why try and make my own [future] when there is one better" Anyway basically that Heavenly Father has a bigger and better plan for her so why try and make her own too soon. Which is so true of all of us. I get so impatient. But in the eternal outlook my days right now are extremely short. And once I look on my life I know I will critisize myself for being so whiny about things. I can be impatient about the way things are right now, but what if everything did abruptly change to my liking? Would I be happy still? WOuld I still be wanting more? Would something happen to change everything I had wanted so badly to be perfect? I don't know. But I do know that everything is as it should be, otherwise it would change. Heavenly Father has a bigger plan still in store for my family and me as well. I shouldn't try to change it before its time. And like Mitzy said "All we have to do is Let Him In" He has the power to change everything!!

Christmas
Christmas was about the norm for our little family. Other than Brooke didn't wake up until about 8:20. And she was a little confused at what day it was. Vert different from last year (she was so excited when she woke up.)
All in all we had a great Christmas. Christmas Eve we went to Mike's grandma's for hordierv's (I have no idea how to spell that) Christmas Morning fter opening presents we went over to Mike's parents'. His family has a big breakfast every year. Friday morning we woke up to double the snow that we had on Christmas. We headed to my mom and dad's.
Oh but I forgot.. Tuesday my family came down to watch Sena play against Parowan in basketball. I got off work early to go watch too. JV won by like 5 in overtime. And varsity won by around 17. Although I have to say that they need some work. They played good, but they definately should be working on defense and team work. But that is all I am going to say on that subject. My family stayed the night and went home Christmas Eve afternoon.
Then Saturday we had the annual Mickelsen Family Party which was pretty fun. We had a good time! We wanted to go sledding but there really wasn't much snow and we didn't have too much time after the party before dark to head to the mountains so we didn't.
We had a great weekend and hope you all did too!!

Insight??
If any of you have any advice on dealing with a 3 year old girl's attitude. I would sure love to hear it. We try everything we can think of to help her say things differently or react differently. And I know that they react to enviroments around them, but I cannot help some of them. And I know they are going to have their temper tantrums. But honestly this is gone on for far too long!!! She started when she was a year and a half. And she is a smart (too smart sometimes) and awesome little 3 year old. But she has this attitude where she acts like a teenager. And I really don't like hearing that it's only going to get worse. Because I wish at least parts of it would get better. Just when we think she's doing better it gets worse. She doesn't like to listen to a thing I say and sometimes even her dad. She doesn't mind very well for the most part. It's like she get s a kick of defying us. Which I dont' get because it only lands her in trouble. Like I said she acts like a teenager. And I'm not trying to sound like a griping mother. Because she really is wonderful it's just this attitude ALL the time!! Sometimes I just want to scream, but I know it wouldn't help anything. So if anybody has advice even a tiny bit, I'd appreciate you sharing it... Thanks!

Christmas Tag 2008
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags: Definately wrapping paper.. I love to wrap presents ( I think I take after my dad.. Cause surprisingly it's usually him in the bedroom wrapping presents!!!) Sometimes I get carried away too!! Lol
2. Real Tree or Artificial: REAL!!! I will NOT have a fake tree! I love the smell of the pine and to me real trees are more beautiful and a lot less work. (I have to put up a fake one at work every year)
3. When do you put up the tree?: Depends. We go get the trees usually Friday after Thanksgiving. Then it depends on when we get home sometimes that weekend and sometimes within the week after.
4. when do you take the tree down: Usually around New Years.. Although i would love to leave it up year round.
5. Do you like eggnog?: Yes. But like Mel I have to dilute with Milk. Tastes better and not as strong.
6. Favorite present as a child?: Don't remember honestly
7. Hardest person to buy for: Depends on who we have. But probably the parents and if we have almost anyone from Mike's uncle KC's family.
8. Easies person to buy for?: Brooke and Mike (that is if I had all the money in the world... he likes the expensive things!!!)
9. Do you have a nativity scene: Yes 2!Thanks to my parents and my young women leaders

20. What is your tree topper: Always a Star for us. It just seems significant to me, whereas it was the star that led the wise men and sheperds to baby Jesus!
21. Open presents on Christmas eve or on Christmas: Well sometimes we open 1 present on Christmas Eve, however we have always had Mrs. Clause bring us pajamas that night as well so at least one then the rest on Christmas.
22. Most annoying thing during the holidays: People by far.. they forget the true and real meaning of Christmas get in big hurries and are rude, impatient, and mean! They need to stop, take a deep breath, count to 10, and remember the season!
23. Favorite ornament or tree theme: Lol. Growing up we have had the same theme multi-colored lights with multi-colored ornaments and Red tinsel. However since Mike and I have been married we have had "theme trees" Every year is different. This year we are brown with clear led lights and its outdoorsy like. There's deer, pinecones, snowflakes etc.
24. Favorite dinner on Christmas: Mmmm... Ham, yummy potatoes, part of Christmas Jello ( I don't like the pinapple part... so I guess just jello), and the rest of the side dishes....
25. What do you want most for Christmas this year: Just the love of my families. And maybe a white christmas!!
26. What do you like most about Christmas: That's easy. The Christmas Spirit. I love that feeling.. And I love the decorations. Just everything really!!
27. What are your traditions for Christmas: Well kinda depends on the year.. My family does a Christmas Eve dinner. Mike's family does Christmas Eve Horderv's (I know I didn't spell that right) and Christmas Morning Breakfast. My family usually goes to my grandma's H's for Christmas dinner. We try to mix

Favorite memory of Christmas: Beyond Brooke's first Christmas, the memory that always sticks in my head the most is my 3rd grade year when my mom had cancer and we spent Christmas at my aunt and uncle's in Riverton. We started a new tradition that year and it was just a lot of fun. In fact it was my dad that woke us all up at 5 AM ready to open presents. I was telling him to go back to sleep it was still dark!! Lol.

Thanksgiving Weekend
So I decided this year I would help make dinner. I've wanted to do dinner myself but I know not very many of my family would come down here for it. And Mike's family does a big thing at his Grandma's usually.. So anyway I helped my mom make thanksgiving dinner up there this year. Wednesday i made pies, and worked (not easy mind you) and after Mike and I both got off work and he put up lights and packed our bags we headed to my hometown. Shi and Ryan were already there. Everyone had fun talking and staying up for awhile before bed. Thursday we got up mom started making pudding pie crusts then the rest of the food preparations began. We had dinner on the table only 10 maybe 15 minutes later than planned. So for us that was definately an achievement! Shilo and Ryan left not long after dinner they had goodbyes with his family to attend to back up north. (They headed out yesterday morning for tenn... not sure if I said anything so more on that later) My parents, Mike, Brooke, and I made a trip to Richfield that evening.
Friday everyone but Mom loaded up and headed after our Christmas Trees!!! (This is my favorite part after stuffing myself fuller than should be with great food.... Plus you get to eat Turkey sandwiches on rolls... nothing beats it) My dad had invited Kenny and his family to go with too. -now in years past we've had a couple of my uncles and their families with us... but over the years we've all dwindled down to our seperate families- So we made it up to the designated spot... which I'm not disclosing even though I'm using this as my journal.... my dad hikes a lot in search of our perfect trees every year and there are still more there so.. location is remaining undisclosed. Not that I think people will automatically flee to this location just a precaution.. for my dad. Anyway since dad knew right where they were, after dropping off the vehicles and the kids, Dad, Sena, Kenny, Mike and I hopped on the 4wheelers headed up more of the mountain then hiked more up to "the trees" And since I wasn't being very smart and ONLY ate 1 turkey sandwich and a few cheetos and a sucker all morning then took off hiking without bringing other food... Needless to say I was a little sick and faint. The snow helped with the water so I wasn't worried about that. But nobody else thought to bring anything to eat either since we weren't far from the trucks. Well dad did find an old lemon tootsie roll in his coat pocket. Now I despise them but I was desperate so after mike prodded away the paper I sucked on it. Well it only helped a little until it became too nasty and I had to spit it out. But it was due to the fact that it was OLD not my dislike of the candy. Anywho we got all our trees and I didn't pass out, luckily. I must have great smoothing things out skills. Because I can always seem to do that before I pass out, thankfully.
Our tree was by far the heaviest. I have another tall ceiling so I could have a tall tree this year. Well we found one almost as round as it was tall!! Lol. And it took both Mike and I to drag it down the mountainside to the fourwheelers. However though we have cut quite a bit off now. It was still a little too tall for the tall ceiling and then once we got the tree inside the house we decided to put it in the living room instead of the family room (which has a shorter ceiling). Anywho I'll post a picture when we decorate it.
So Saturday we helped my dad and siblings put up lights. Which helped my dad drastically. Normally with his work schedule and doing it mostly by himself with some help from Sena and Amy it takes a couple of weeks. We were able to get everything but the last oak tree, the back of the bottom of the house and bush next to it. It was fun. I like putting up lights. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but I like it! So after that we ALL went to Richfield again.... and ate some pizza and did a little shopping.
All in all it was a rather fun weekend! I think it's the longest we've stayed at my parents' house too. Although I have to say I'm disapointed in myself for not getting over to see my grandparents. Thanks dad and mom for feeding us and putting up with us!!! We hope everyone else had a great weekend.
