Mickelsen Family Party

Well here is another short update as well as some pics from Christmas. This is for you Scamper!!! I have now updated I hope you enjoy the pictures at least. Sadly I forgot my camera at my parents' house so I do not have any of the party.
The annual Mickelsen Family Christmas Party was a bit smaller and more intimate whereas we were down two more siblings this year. My dad and his siblings (minus one) take turns every year to put on the party usually the Saturday after Christmas. It's a time for that side of our family to get together and see each other, especially where we are all getting older with more families and more spread out. This year my dad traded with my aunt so my parents were in charge.
It was pretty fun. My dad found this game that was pretty fun and involved nearly everyone there. I have to say my sisters and I ended up doing horribly but we laughed the whole time. We also played another game that they played last year to do with white elephant type gifts. It was also fun. My mom strayed away from the recent traditional soups meal but lunch was pretty yummy with a wide array of things to eat. My favorite being dessert (go figure I know). What can I say I have a huge sweet tooth. It was fun to see so many of my relatives again but I missed seeing the other half of the family that wasn't there.
So any of you that read this know we all missed you guys!!
New Years Eve, we (being my little fam of 4) drove up to my parents'. It was a little bit of a surprise since they didn't know what day we were coming up. We missed my dad who had to go up to check on pumps and Sena who went to a party with some friends from high school. Both were gone before we got there and got home after we were asleep. Everyone stayed up until 12:30 or so. Unfortunately so did both my girls. I'd like to say we played games and had a ton of fun but we were just boring and watched movies. No we didn't even watch the ball drop.
We were able to meet Shilo and Ryan's little kids they have right now, on New Years Day. They came down for the party and stayed for awhile afterwards. It was a pretty fun weekend.

Christmas

Well, our month of December was full. Brooke had a fun last day of school on the 17th. She also liked singing and doing a program. However due to the large number of students gone via illness and being a Kindergarten class etc. etc. (I will refrain from venting my frustrations on this subject) Brooke got sick that night. Again. (this being the 3rd time since Thanksgiving) Then she gave it to Kenna and then due to my lack of sleep and sick kids I was so lucky to get it as well and then of course Mike did too.
With Brooke we knew it wouldn't last and tried to keep her away from McKenna. But I had to take McKenna to the dr. on Tuesday because her cough had become horrible. And they ended up testing her for rsv and influenza. Sadly my baby had influenza. And she was the youngest they had seen thus far. Yay for us.... Well we got a prescription for the nebulizer we have (from Brooke getting rsv when she was 8 months old), told to go back the next day to check her oxygen level again and to watch her closely, if it got worse then go the er or any questions not to hesitate to call. Well she got better to then turn around and get a cold so her vaccinations have been put on hold. I miraculously was able to get over it pretty fast.
Mike though did not. He got it hard on Christmas Eve and was sick in bed all weekend. We had a pretty dull Christmas quarantined at home. Mike had a pounding head so we tried to be quiet and I had the great privledge of doing Christmas all by myself with a 4 1/2 month old who doesn't like to sleep well at times.
We had such a different Christmas this year. It was all bad or miserable (though don't ask Mike) but I sure didn't feel the spirit as strong nor did it really feel like Christmas to me. Not to mention we didn't have any snow. It hadn't snowed since November all we had been getting was rain. Yes I said rain in December! I was pretty gloomy.
But other than Mike's cough, and Kenna still having some congestion and a little bit of a cough we are all back to our normal healthy selves. We hope everyone else had a wonderful Christmas with love and family and remembering the Christ child.
