We had a fun weekend with lots of family. Saturday we ended up going to Cedar to buy Brooke a cake and save me the stress of making one and not turning out the way I would like it to. We bought Brooke a birthday lunch at Ninja's, very yummy food even if you don't like sushi too much. Brooke enjoyed her lunch and using kid chopsticks (I need those, I get worse every time I use them). At the store we saw Mike's parents, grandma and nephew Tyler. Ty decided to come with us. Before heading home we got drinks and went out to Ladybug nursery where the kids had a lot of fun in their sand box. Ty decided to come to our house to play with Brooke for few hours. After we dropped Ty off later Mike made some yummy patti melt sandwhiches for Brooke's bday dinner. She had a fun day but since we decided to wait for her present and cake until Sunday with the family she was a little upset. But after convincing her this just made for a two day birthday she was a little better other than she didn't want to go to bed because her Aunt Shi and Uncle Ryan were here with little Isabella.
Saturday started off nice and slow. But time as always went by way faster than I realized and we didn't get up the mountain until just before we had planned on having 'lunch'. My dad and siblings had headed straight up there due to our mis-communication and they spent an hour and a half driving around looking for us. (We weren't up there for part of that time). When we finished unloading everything out of our truck into our trailer, Mike's family got up there. Mike and I took off to find my family (I was hoping they were hanging out at the lake, waiting for us....high hopes.)
We had a few issues like wind, and cookware, and the hamburgers taking their pretty little time, but like every year, it was a typical Brooke birthday party. Everyone ate and sadly Jess and her charge Maria had to leave before cake and presents, but we were so glad they could make it. Brooke and Maria became fast friends last weekend when they met. We had issues with the wind blowing out the flame before the candle had a chance to shine. We got them all lit once and as Brooke sucked in her big breath to blow them out the wind did it for her. We took her into our trailer to light them and let her blow them out. Everyone ate cake and cupcakes (Brooke made) while she opened her presents. Sadly the fire was blowing the smoke in her direction most of the time.
After a little bit Mike, Papa, and I took Kenna on a walk/hike in the area behind our trailer. The kids stayed and played (in the creek a lot). Isabella ended up staying in the trailer most of the time because of the wind, though gladly she slept better that night in the trailer than she did at our house the night before (must be the mountain air... lol). We enjoyed our walk other than papa realized what it took to keep up with Kenna. She had him going all over the place. We ended up in a ravine heading back down to camp. She also likes to do things the hard way. But we saw some nice pine trees and it was fun to explore more of the mountains. Not long after we came back from our walk/hike Mike's family headed back home. They had decided not to stay at their trailer that night. Due to our late lunch (3:30) we ate a very late dinner (like 8:30 or 9:00). Which was just in time for the babies to go to bed. Bella wasn't too eager to go to sleep but for awhile she just laid and talked or looked at her surroundings. Kenna on the other hand, didn't want to stay up in our bed she made Mike lay there with her. Luckily for him and his starving belly, she was beyond tired and it didn't take her long to crash.
Monday Kenna was awake before 7 after a night of tossing and making sure I was still next to her. I don't know what it was that night I tried to move her down beside our bed like everytime we are camping and she freaked out so she slept in our bed. She had to have my boppy pillow (her favorite pillow) and sleep crooked with our covers not the blanket I had over her to make sure I didn't pull the covers off her. Silly girl. Anyway morning we had yummy breakfast of pancakes and bacon. We cleaned everything up as much as possible and loaded everything up that we could before heading off on a big family hike. Sadly Shilo and Ryan had to turn back because of Shilo's stomach, so they missed out. But they got a nap in. We got lots of pictures and found many beautiful pine trees I would love to transplant to my yard!! There was even the creek for Nolan, Skyler, and Brooke to play in.... still. When we came back we finished loading up and headed out. My dad and siblings headed back home. Shilo and Ryan had to come back to our house before heading back home themselves.
We asked my dad to bring down his metal detector because we have found quite a few interesting things in our yard when we've dug flower beds etc. so Mike wanted to see what else he could find. So while I was busy, Mike and the girls were outside playing with that in the yard. Sena had fun with it too. All in all it was a fun weekend, Brooke had a great two day birthday. (Pictures still to come)
